Scottsdale, Arizona (August 25, 2015) – The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series headed up to Wild West Motorsports Park in Reno, NV for Rounds 13 & 14. Eric Fitch showed up ready to race, but the weekend had different plans. Instead this was going to be a weekend of team and mental growth for Fitch Racing. Through intense teamwork, dedication and focus, what seemed to be a lost weekend turned into moments of triumph as they were able to get the truck running and on track after chasing down one issue after the next.

In the end, Eric and his team came together to make a weekend of woes into a weekend of positive growth.

In preparation for practice on Friday, Eric found that the truck’s computer system was malfunctioning. His team did all they could do to remedy the situation Friday and Saturday but, they as they fixed one problem, another reared up. So instead, Eric used the opportunity to learn from watching the practices, qualifying and Saturday’s race. Working with his team alongside the track, he took in a new perspective and gained new insight to the Pro 2 class dynamics.

"It is frustrating because now that I am comfortable in the truck and really starting to show that I can race with these guys, the truck is where the issues are popping up. Even so, I would rather it be the truck, than me having issues. I know that I can drive, so it is just a matter of getting the truck dialed-in. Lucky for me, I have a great crew that works tirelessly to get this truck ready and even if we can’t race, like today, they help me gain invaluable insight into the Pro 2 class," said Eric after Saturday’s events. Sunday, the truck was up and running and it looked as though Eric was back on track.

He qualified 8th and was excited to be ready to race at the track he swept on last year. At the race start, he held strong for several laps and looked ready to make his moves when the race turned into a battlefield. Eric got caught up in several other trucks’ spins and errors and unfortunately had to end his race early; but, in a race where only half of the field finished all the laps, Eric stood tall knowing that he has the talent and team to keep him coming back and pushing toward the top.

Eric will be heading to Las Vegas, NV in September to compete in the LOORRS Rounds 15 & 16. Last year, Eric set some of the fastest lap times in the Pro Buggy class, and he hopes to do the same in his Pro 2 truck this year.Eric Fitch (20) transitioned from Motocross to Pro-Buggy racing three years ago as the youngest competitor in the Pro series for the 2012 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing season. His practice, qualifying- and race-time have been among the fastest in the Pro-Buggy class, gaining the attention of competitors, officials, and sponsors.

In championship point standings, Fitch and team finished the 2014 season at 7th out of 25 competitors. During that season, over 50% of the races landed the team in the Top 5; of the six podiums, Fitch earned three 1st place finishes, one 2nd place finish, and two 3rd place finishes. One of those 3rd place finishes was in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Challenge Cup, the toughest race of the season, where Fitch fought his way through racing carnage to earn his place on the podium.

With Fitch’s growing confidence, maturity, and ease behind the wheel, he has decided to bring his skills to the even more competitive Pro 2 Unlimited class for the 2015 season.
